Note: When loading the battery, the positive terminal of the battery is toward the end, so please do not operate incorrectly.

The positive and negative terminals of commonly used cylindrical batteries (such as AA, AAA, etc.) are typically as follows:
1. **Positive terminal (+)**:  
   The **protruding end (metal cap end)** of the battery is typically the positive terminal. This is the standard design for most alkaline and carbon-zinc batteries.
2. **Negative terminal (-)**:  
   The **flat or recessed end (bottom)** of the battery is the negative terminal. The negative terminal typically contacts a spring or metal plate in the battery compartment.

**Exceptions:**
- Some rechargeable batteries (such as nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride) may have both ends designed as flat surfaces, but the casing will clearly mark “+” and “-”.  
- For lithium batteries (such as 18650), the positive terminal is also the convex end, but note that polarity may vary slightly by brand; it is recommended to check the battery markings.

**Verification method**:  
If the battery is not worn, the “+” and “-” symbols on the casing are the most reliable indicators. If the markings are unclear, the convex end is typically the positive terminal.
